Hey. I'm Joe

Bio

My entire career has been in B2B tech. I cut my teeth starting in product marketing working for Novell (which at the time was a top brand with a 70% marketshare of the fast growing network computing industry). While we had our challenges at Novell, things all work out when you're growing at 40% a year!

After five years with Novell, we sold our house, packed up our family and moved to Seattle where I took a job as SVP of marketing for Applied Voice Technologies (which later became AVT, which later become Captaris, which ultimately got bought by OpenText). AVT/Captaris was a publicly traded messaging company that we grew from $35m to $120m in the six years I was there.

From there, I joined Interactive Intelligence as EVP, worldwide marketing and later was named chief marketing officer. I spent ten years there and we grew the business to $325m. We reinvented the business twice -- going from an SMB player to an enterprise provider and transitioning from a premise software company to a SaaS company. In 2007 we had the best performing stock on the NASDAQ. And we grew our brand recognition during my time there from 6% to over 70%.

After years of flying 175,000 miles a year I decided in 2014 to take a CMO role closer to home and I joined AtTask. Within six months we had done a complete rebrand and relaunched the company as Workfront. During my time there, we grew the company from $65m to $160m.

I closed out my 22 year CMO career with the last 2 1/2 years as the CMO at Motivosity -- a provider of employee engagement and performance management software. It was a ton of fun as we took a true startup and turned it into a strong, recognizable brand.

And now I've taken that experience and I'm using it to help other companies succeed!
